Come along to the Henley & Grange Historical Society’s AGM and enjoy a presentation by local writer and guest speaker, Laura Di Martino.
Laura will talk about her latest book, A Shimmering Thread, that focuses on one year in the life of Henley Beach during the 1920s, as presented by the newspapers of the day. Laura will highlight these events through archival photographs as well as give a general overview of what was happening politically and socially that had an impact on Henley Beach.
Bio
Laura Di Martino lives in Adelaide, South Australia. She is a retired high school teacher of History and Languages. She is passionate about all things culture, including art, architecture, literature, music and food. She loves exploring local history in particular. As a migrant to Australia herself, she is fascinated by the diaspora experience of all cultures who settled in Australia. Her works are inspired by this experience.
