A Virtual Tour of the Soldiers’ Memorial

The Soldiers’ Memorial stands as a lasting tribute to the men and women of Henley and Grange who have served Australia in times of war.
Although ordinarily closed to the public, the Memorial Room is opened to visitors on Anzac Day (25 April) and Remembrance Day (11 November), when commemorative services are held at the adjacent Henley & Grange RSL Sub-Branch. On these special occasions, people of all ages can visit to honour, remember and reflect upon the service and sacrifice of all Australians who have served in times of war and conflict.
There is now another way to experience this place of remembrance.
Presented by the Henley & Grange Historical Society (H&GHS) in association with the Henley & Grange RSL Sub-Branch, custodian of the Memorial Room, the virtual experience below offers a rare opportunity to ‘step inside’ and spend time in quiet reflection. Through an immersive 360-degree panorama and interactive hotspots, you can explore the room at your own pace to discover the stories of the 24 local men who gave their lives during the First World War and view the room’s service and honour rolls which commemorate the men and women of Henley and Grange who served in both World Wars and in later conflicts.
We also invite you to use the Reflection hotspot to share your thoughts on your visit, and—if you wish—any personal or family stories connected with those who served. In doing so, you help ensure these memories are preserved and passed on, so they continue to hold meaning for future generations.
NOTES: Comments added anonymously in the reflection form are only seen by a H&GHS Committee member and are deleted after being read. Stories are linked to web pages of the Virtual War Museum Australia. The H&GHS accepts no responsibility for any inaccuracies in any story.
